It has been such a busy month! We have two more students that have joined our crew; making a total of four new students! Although it has been very busy, we have had a lot of fun learning! Some of our projects have included: Acting out the "True Story of the Three Little Pigs," which helped the students understand the power of point of view; creating a giant parts of speech snowman; comparing & contrasting characters in the fable, "The Ant & the Grasshopper" and a story about two very different sisters, Lottie & Bess; free write blogging (and editing & punctuation skills); reading tons of awesome choice Newsela non-fiction articles & presenting them to the class; and learning about conflict through analyzing story elements from "Tuesday of the Other June." We've also completed i-Ready practices & have read and discussed many independent reading selections. We were able to visit the library with Mrs. Fendt, and enjoy winter stories too. We even enjoyed a couple of snow days, which were unexpected since it has been such a warm winter. We also welcome Mrs. Schuck and thank her for helping out our class. Looking ahead, we have an upcoming trip to the Edison Public Library. Students will be able to get library cards and select books. We also have an upcoming Skype to the North Carolina Aquarium about water & sea animals & an author Skype with Maria IIlanos. We are having so much fun learning!
