Another awesome day for Korten's Crew as we read through chapter 47 campfire style! We also were lucky to have a great online chat with a class from NY! We discussed our favorite parts of the book and made some predictions. It is so much fun to get to know classrooms around the world! We sported the shirts we made as well! These shirts symbolize our friendship, just like Ally & Keisha made shirts to make Albert feel good! We are certainly "fire starters" in Korten's Crew too! |
While reading today, we learned of so many famous people that had trouble with reading, but became extremely successful in spite of it being more difficult to learn to read. These are all creative people too (just like Ally)! Mr. Daniels tells his class, "Did you know that Albert Einstein was kicked out of school and his report card said that he was too slow? Henry Ford knew how an engine worked without studying it. Did you know that Walt Disney was told by a teacher that he wasn't creative enough?" Mr. Daniels is such a great teacher to show his students that we are all unique learners and our differences make us special. The world would be a boring place if we were all the same! We all learn differently. We are happy that Ally will see that just because she may have trouble learning to read, she is a very smart girl and has special talents! Sometimes having to work harder can also make us stronger!
